KingMike's Translation http://kingmike.emuxhaven.net kingmike2001 AT hotmail DOT com Ghost Manor Patch v1.0 Release date: 7/28/2008 ********************************************* Original Title: Youkai Yashiki Original Language: Japanese ********************************************* Introduction This is a platformer game. It is based on a maze/platform game designed by Casio for the MSX. But from what I've seen of a video of the MSX game, this game seems to have a more elaborate level design. (okay, the FDS version has some pretty sinister level design. I played the first couple levels, then watched some nicovideo dude beat the game.) ********************************************* Contents of package. ghost.ips :Japanese to English translation patch. ghost.txt :this document. ********************************************* Emulation Status: This game should be playable on any emulator supporting FDS games. You'll need to find an FDS BIOS ROM, named "disksys.rom", and typically placed in the emulator's directory. Don't ask for the ROM. ********************************************* What's done: - The title was the only thing to translate. ********************************************* How to patch: PROPER ROM: - 128KB, with header. - Download this zip file. - Download the game ROM. (I won't provide this. You find it.) - Download Lunar IPS. http://fusoya.cggames.net - Open Lunar IPS. Click Apply patch. Pick the ROM and the patch. -If that is too difficult, open Lunar IPS, then close it. Do this to associate IPS files with Lunar IPS. -Now just double-click the IPS file, and double click the ROM. ********************************************* How to play: The object of the game is to collect five flags in each level and defeat the boss. Controls: Up - climb up ladders Down - Climb down ladders, enter firepits, activate certain objects Left/Right - Walk Start - Pause Select - View map B Button - Shoot A Button - Jump When the game starts up, you will see the intro. Press Start to skip the intro. Press Start at the title to begin the game. You will be prompted to turn the disk to side B. Follow your emulator instructions. As for life, you have several bottles. When you get hit, if any of your bottles are filled, you will empty 1/2 a bottle. If you get hit with all your bottles empty, you will lose a bottle. If you lose your last bottle, the game is over. You will have to start the level over. Shooting the fireball enemies will fill 1/2 a bottle if you're not full. One thing to watch out for: the distance of your shots seems to be based on your health. Also, shots will travel farther if you shoot one at a time rather than rapid-firing. You will need to find five scrolls to be able to gain access to the boss room. You can climb ladders to move up and down between screens, but you will just have to push against the left and right sides of the screen to find out where you can move. You will see firepits throughout the levels. Much like Mario's pipes, stand on one (watch out for fires, as they will damage you) and press Down to warp to another room. Through out the levels, you will find various objects. Red grid signs can be shot to reveal powerups. So can the helmet guys. The bald guys in the background can function as switches sometimes. Press Down to see if they do anything. Powerups: Money bag - points Tomato - weapon power up. It lasts until you get hit. Honeycomb - invincibility, destory enemies just by touching them Red bottle - increase max life Candle - recover 1/2 bottle Scroll - temprary invisibility, does not damage enemies Riceball - used at certain statues for a health refill? ******************************************* Youkai Yashiki (c) 1986 Casio FDS game (c) 1987 Irem English Translation: (c) 2008 KingMike No distributing the patch with ROM, either pre-patched, or in one zip.
